I AM....

“Has not the LORD gone ahead of you?”
-Deborah’s words to Barak, Judges 4:14

The LORD has gone before us. HE has made a way for us. HE will lead us. HE will provide for us. HE will comfort us. HE will provide shelter for us. HE will clothe us. HE will feed us. HE WILL because HE is the great I AM.
Praise God.

Be It Ever So Humble, There's No Place Like Home!

Dear Reader,
I had an unusual opportunity today to drive to a nearby city with my husband for the day. Kind friends cared for our children and took them to their co-op class this afternoon. The trip began well. I browsed in a flower/gift shop while my husband did a little business; then, he took me to the office to meet his boss and his boss' wife. They were a friendly couple and Christ shined through. We enjoyed lunch at a pretty Brazilian restaurant, someplace I never would have thought to go myself. Delicious! I need to try new things more often! ~smile~ Then it was off to a business fair with my husband. It was a lot of meeting, greeting, and exchanging business cards. Not exactly my cup of tea! Now, if they'd been quilters, or homeschoolers, that might have been a bit more interesting! ~smile~

By the time we headed home, just nine hours after we left home, I was feeling homesick! I wanted a break so much; and, here I was just wanting to be in my own home. Imagine that. Well, I came home to chaos. It's a mess. Picking up/cleaning up wasn't high on the kids' priority list tonight. ~sigh~ I've decided to wait until tomorrow morning to get to work. But, messy as it is, it is my little town home, my Harvest Lane Cottage.

I think maybe, after spending a day seeing how the other side lives, I'll appreciate Home Sweet Home and the Man that makes being home possible just a little bit more.

Enjoy your home sweet home!

Godliness with Contentment is Great Gain....

A few scriptures from the Holy Bible for those of us who are seeking contentment:

“All the days of the afflicted are evil; but he (she) that is of a merry heart hath a continual feast.” Proverbs 15:15

“…for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.” Philippians 4:11

“…and be content with such things as ye have.” Hebrews 13:5

Update on Saturday

Hello everyone!
I'm so happy to hear from you ladies. I had some questions about whether I got it all done Saturday. Nope. I tried! ~smile~ Here's what I planned and what I got done:

DONE-transcribing an interview for the Kingdom Business Journal,
DONE-going to the quilt shop for more white thread,
DONE-sewing for the shop and my first craft sale,
CHANGED PLAN-cooking some things for our church potluck tomorrow, TOOK A PLATE OF HAM, CHEESE, AND CRACKERS INSTEAD...IT DISAPPEARED QUICKLY!
HONEY DID THIS FOR ME-mixing up a batch of cookie dough for the freezer,
PARTLY DONE SATURDAY/ PARTLY DONE SUNDAY-cleaning house because company's coming tomorrow.
DIDN'T DO IT -check papers and update records,
DIDN'T DO IT -take some photos of what I've been sewing, too.

Ah well, it didn't all get done; but, most of it did. I knew I probably wouldn't finish because we had plans Saturday evening.

I'll post photos tomorrow of some of the things I've been making. That means I've got to take them tonight!

We had a great time last night doing a little dutch oven cooking in the back yard with friends. My hubby wanted to practice for Farm Girl Day.

Well, I've got to get to work now!

God bless you all!

Good Morning!

Good Morning Ladies!
It's a beautiful foggy morning here. I can say that it's beautiful; because, I don't have to drive in it! The house is quiet. All are still asleep. I love the quiet hush of sleep. So, why don't I get myself into the early to bed, early to rise routine? I have a night owl husband! It's so easy to just do one more thing before bed. Ah well, I suppose that I'll do it when I think it's important and valuable enough to discipline myself to go to bed early.

Today I'll be transcribing an interview for the Kingdom Business Journal, going to the quilt shop for more white thread, sewing for the shop and my first craft sale, cooking some things for our church potluck tomorrow, mixing up a batch of cookie dough for the freezer, and cleaning house because company's coming tomorrow. I need to check papers and update records, and take some photos of what I've been sewing, too. Hmmm...that's a lot! I'd better recruit the family...or should I say draft? ~smile~

Well, it looks like a busy morning.
God bless you all; enjoy your last weekend of summer!

Hi,
My sewing time today was spent pressing and cutting. Tomorrow I plan to start putting together some tea wallets. I plan to sell some at Farm Girl Day. Come October, I'll be putting a few in the Shop.
Question: Do you think I should sell them with or without tea bags?
Sue, Aunt Jo, thanks for giving me permission to sew!

God bless you all!

What is Education?

“Whatever an education is, it should make you a unique individual, not a conformist; it should furnish you with an original spirit with which to tackle the big challenges; it should allow you to find values which will be your roadmap through life; it should make you spiritually rich, a person who loves whatever you are doing, wherever you are, whomever you are with; it should teach you what is important, how to live and how to die.”

Working, Playing, and Sewing Through a Saturday

Dear Readers,

I've been getting school going, working on paperwork, transcribing an interview, and doing all the regular momma things this week. I did fit in time for some rummage sales on Friday and found some good deals on some craft and sewing supplies. Thank you God! Hopefully, you'll soon be seeing some things I'm creating! ~smile~

Saturday I worked at my first freelance transcriptionist assignment for a few hours in the morning while my absolutely darling husband worked on honey do's and got the kids busy on projects. When I came up for air, I found a tidy house with kids busy in various activities. Thank you Lowell!

During the afternoon, I intended to sew; but, it ended up to be a family afternoon. One of the local fast food restaurants has a half price drink time each afternoon. We loaded up the van with all six of us and went over for a soda and an hour of reading our favorite books. Afterward, we went to an old hardware store on the square for a few items. We just have to have the most beautiful courthouse and square in Missouri! We ended up by taking a drive through the historic district and sight seeing the old victorian houses built around the turn of the 20th century. It was refreshing and almost like taking a mini-vacation in our own town.

When we returned, I got busy with my sewing. BUT, my seven year old sweetie wanted to help. So, I got out her little project for her. She's sewing buttons on the front of one of her little t-shirts, just to practice sewing buttons. It will be cute. She takes it so seriously. Needless to say, I knew I'd have interruptions; so, I chose to lengthen the elastic on my little princess' petty pants, or bloomers, whichever you might call them. They are little shorts that I made for her last year which she wears under her dresses for modesty. She's a mostly dresses girl; though, sometimes a little pair of jeans and a cute top just work better for her. There's never any question that she's all girl.

So here's my sewing for Saturday:

I'm going to try to sew a bit every day as a part of National Sewing Month. If you'd like to join in the fun, go register at Aunt Jo's blog. See my sidebar.
Last night I stitched on some more dishcloths while visiting at our dear friend Mr. Morris' birthday party. I like keeping my hands busy!
Remember, I'm having a sale at my shop, Harvest Lane Cottage. Go check it out! I'll be adding new things soon for Autumn and Christmas!
God bless you!

Another Rainy Busy Day...

Hello Dear Reader,
I'm enjoying another cool rainy day. This morning we listened to a tape of The Magician's Nephew and the beginning of The Chronicles of Narnia. I got the tape set from Paperback Swap. I've been swapping there for a couple of years. With patience, I've received more books than I can read in a year. It's fun, easy, and only costs the price of postage for the books you send. Click here to visit my list of books available through Paperback Swap.

If you'd like to join, please tell them that I referred you! My name is lauraofharvestlane and the referral e-mail is lane.family@yahoo.com .

While listening to the stories, I stitched on another of my pretty, durable dishcloths to sell at Farm Girl Day or in my Shop. All of the dishcloths in the shop are on sale for $3 each for the month of September. Some items have free shipping as well. Come see what I have on sale.
May the Lord Bless You and Keep You In Jesus' Name,
Laura
