I Thank God... Day 9

I spent the day today with my dear dear friend Joyce. We've been friends for at least a dozen years now. She is a Titus 2 woman to me even though she is just a couple of years older. Why? She encourages me to love my husband, love my children, love my home, train my children, teach my children, and to love my God. She's a real gem to me. She practices hospitality and has a happy marriage and 8 beautiful, well-behaved, hard working children here, and 4 little loves waiting for her with Jesus. If anyone deserves to have a dozen children, it's Joyce and her husband. They're great parents who love the Lord. I'm so thankful for the influence and friendship that Joyce has given me over the years. She's a chosen sister in the Lord.

Hello my dear readers and friends, You've no doubt noticed a change in my blog over the last few weeks and seen hints of health troubles and tests. This is the post I've been avoiding. My Spicy Can Opener Soup was published in Gooseberry Patch Hometown Christmas!

Just had to share this with you again.   My recipe was published in Gooseberry Patch Hometown Christmas! I have to admit, I was truly surprised when I received a letter from Gooseberry Patch requesting permission to use my recipe in their newest Christmas cookbook.  I've sent in some more complicated recipes, but this one is easy peasy! It's truly a recipe that I threw together using items from my nearly bare kitchen cupboards last winter. I called it Spicy Can Opener Soup.  They changed the name, but the ingredients remain the same.   I was thrilled to receive my very own copy of the book .  Of course, I had to make it up and take some photos to share with you dear ladies. Just Who is Laura of Harvest Lane Cottage?

I'm a big city girl gone small town girl gone country and finally gone back to small town. I live in southern Missouri between Oz and the Ozarks.  I have four children. My daughters live at home. My twenty-four year old daughter is finishing her master's degree through online university, and my 20 year old daughter goes to Christian college. My sons live on their own nearby. The 22 year old son and my 31 year old sons live nearby. I homeschooled all of my children from the beginning through high school. My eldest son went to high school for a year and a half. I met my Jesus when I was fifteen, and my life has never been the same. I married my high school sweetheart almost thirty-six years ago. We started going steady my senior year of high school.
