The holidays are coming quickly. For us, they begin the third weekend of October with the Maple Leaf Festival. Next up is my husband's birthday the third week of November. We still celebrate the night started going together November 23, 1981. We were high school sweethearts.
Thanksgiving is next, then the whirlwind of December with Advent, church activities, Christmas, and New Year's Eve.
Have you started making a list yet?
Maybe I should say lists.
Are you hosting a Thanksgiving celebration this year?
Have you made your menu?
Have you gathered your recipes?
Have you started your grocery lists?
Have you planned a cooking timeline?
Are you hosting a Christmas celebration?
The same quesitons apply, and many more.
Pour yourself a cup of eggnog, tea, coffee, or grab a Pepsi from the fridge. Sit down and start making your lists. All the planning you do now will help reduce the stress later and help you enjoy instead of endure.
God bless you!
Happy Thanks Living!

I'm a list maker from way back!!!
ReplyDeleteVisiting from Grace at Home party. Thanks for the reminder. I have not made any preparations for the holidays at all and a list is a good starting place. I noticed you are from the Joplin area. I also am from Missouri but much closer to St. Louis. Nice to meet you.
ReplyDeleteGreat advice. I am not hosting Thanksgiving this year, but I did a few years back and know how important it is to time everything out just right!
ReplyDeleteThis year we will have all of the family for Thanksgiving. Our youngest and her hubby will even be home from touring Europe and Africa on the 3rd of Nov. YIPEE! Can't wait. We have our usual things that are must have's every year. Always like to try something a bit different. Great advice to start early. Each of my kids bring one dish so that really helps cut down on a lot of work. Thanks for sharing with SYC.
ReplyDeletehugs,
Jann
Hi Jann,
ReplyDeleteI talked with my dad just this week about Thanksgiving. I think a little further ahead than they do. ~smile~ I'll know by the end of the week whether it will be here or there. I'm hoping for there because my kids haven't been to their grandparents' house many times. They live far away and usually they come here.
I'm so happy you'll have all your family together. It promises to be a joyful event, I'm sure.
God bless!
Laura
As a daily list maker I love this post! thanks you so much for sharing on the HomeAcre Hop! Hope to see you again tomorrow! - Nancy HomeAcre Hop
ReplyDeleteHi Nancy,
ReplyDeleteI've linked up!
Blessings,
Laura
I'm in a whole new ballgame here and have no idea what the holidays hold for me this year, but I am getting in list mode and may have to prepare for A, B, and C depending on which way things go. Thanks for the reminder and boost. You're a great encourager, friend! I love you! <3
ReplyDeleteLove you too friend. Have you seen the Carthage Aldi yet? It looks big city! You're in my prayers dear one.
DeleteI have not. I've not been in an Aldi's anywhere since before John got sick. I need to make a run down there and see it. Are they experiencing shortages like other area stores are?
DeleteOh, yes Ma'am. I will get started on making a list. I always get caught with myself a little behind due to other little and big reasons...but I always manage. Thank you for the gentle reminder.
ReplyDeleteYou know I need to, but I haven't. Maybe a little Christmas, but still have no idea where Thanksgiving will be. I know Christmas will be here, but maybe I need to get busy. Please nag me some more I need it! :)
ReplyDeleteOh wow! Permission to nag!!!
DeleteHi Laura! It's been a long time since I've seen your blog, I still love it! I have not made a permanent list, but I'm getting there. Although I have been talking to my daughters and putting together a menu...I need to get all this on paper! So good to see you!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad to hear from you Barb!
DeleteI've finished my bucket list. Thanksgiving is next!
My mom was a list maker and I have received that gene from her. I already have my Thanksgiving lists done and halfway thru Christmas.
ReplyDeleteGood for you! I'm working on it!
Delete65 more days :-) No lists per se, but have most of the gifts ready to wrap and have been on the watch for a turkey - yum.
ReplyDeleteI did some serious list writing yesterday and an it made me so tired! Starting tomorrow I need to do some serious shopping. I need to have everything ready to go home with our oldest son's family when they go home from Thanksgiving to avoid having to ship to them. I have asked my husband to bring all the present already bought downstairs so I can start wrapping. Our immediate family is 18 so gifts are a big job.
