 My Daybook
August 31, 2015

Outside my window... It's sunny and pretty.

I am thinking... about how to make life run more smoothly around the house.

I am thankful that... a sweet friend gave us a gift that will help ends meet.

From the kitchen... I will be doing inventory of all our food today and making some menus. I need to make our food money stretch.

I am wearing... my purple and black top and black shorts. Gasp! I rarely wear shorts or slacks. I will change to a dress before going to the grocery store later.

I am creating... a new dress. Women's Panel Dress from Common Sense Patterns.  I need to hem my new dress. I'm nearly finished after all these weeks!

I am going... to the grocery store and to pick up my husband at work this afternoon. It is much more peaceful now that my son is not working on Mondays. I feel so much calmer than I did just a month ago.

I am reading... I finished It's Good to be Queen and my summer reading list this week. I'll soon be making my fall reading list. I'm reading 1 Corinthians on my own and one chapter of John, a Proverb, and a Psalm each day with my kids in the morning at least four days a week. I'll be starting America the Strong this week.

I am hoping... to get lots of laundry and other chores done today.

I am hearing... the air conditioner, fans and a big truck that just drove by on the highway.

Around the house... we need to clean up a bit after a weekend of making merry for my son's 16th birthday.

One of my favorite things...  lunch with friends. Anyone local want to go?

From the Board Room...
Follow Laura's board TRIM HEALTHY MAMA (S) on Pinterest.

A Few Plans for the Rest of the Week... work, school records and plans, hem my dress, maybe paint the hallway ceiling, catch up laundry, and driving.  ~grin~ Same as last week. I didn't get it done last week. I wonder if I will this week? Hmm... this is getting to be a pattern.

My Picture Thought....
Sometimes the $1.58 mums at Wal-Mart really do grow when you put them in the ground!

Now go check out the other Day Book entries at our hostess Peggy's blog, The Simple Woman.

What are you up to this week?

God bless!

  1. I went to the grocery store yesterday! Hope you have a good trip and get everything you need in one venture!

Came over today on Me, Coffee, and Jesus, and I'm glad to find your site. I always enjoy it when we are "parked" near each other on a link up.

I also followed you on Pinterest today.

  2. I working on lots of laundry today as well! Hope you have a great week!!

  3. I do like to read your posts! Hope your day/week goes as planned. After a stressful chaotic last week, I am hoping for some calm this week. Maybe it will happen and maybe not, but hope springs eternal!

  4. Sounds like a busy week!
Beautiful flower... I've had good luck with flowers bought at Wal-Mart, although because I love wildflowers the most, I usually just plant from seed.
Hope you have a fabulous week :)

  5. You are so sweet Melanie. Thank you!

  6. Thank you, Anne. I'll be over for a visit in a few minutes. I do hope you get your calm!

  7. I can't grow anything for long, Anita. That's why we were so surprised about the mums!

  8. Hooray! I am thrilled to hear your dress is almost done {{smiles}} You know I can't wait to see it.

Wishing you a beautiful and blessed week, my friend. Thanks for joining Roses of Inspiration. Hugs!

  9. I would LOVE to lunch with Laura...if only! Please share your motivating list with us at Five Star Frugal this week? Love, Mimi xxx

  10. Hope you have a blessed week and get a lot done.
Anxious to see your new dress, know its gonna be pretty.

  11. Well, my day isn't as busy as yours. I guess. I run a tiny daycare in my home and we started Tot School today for my 21 month old daycare girl. She loved reading the Creation Story and doing the little fingerplay and then she ran away. I also am getting ready for 3 craft shows where I sell my hot/cold therapy packs & sinus pillows - oh, I'm also in the process of repainting my bedroom and am going to try my hand at stenciling the accent wall this weekend.

Love your blog =D I'm visiting from the Creative Muster linky. It's my first time linking up. I'll be back for sure!

  12. I ran out of laundry soap, Jodi. I will need to finish tomorrow. :) Gives me something to look forward to. ~grin~

  13. I really hope to finish it tonight, Stephanie. I can't believe how much I tend to put off the sewing. It's hard to do when I have other things that need done. I guess I feel guilty doing something that brings me such pleasure.

  14. Tina, it sounds like you're busier than I am!

  15. I'm going to do my best to finish it for church tomorrow Judy.

  16. Oops! I missed this message. I'll look it up., Mimi.
