We all want to show our friendship and support of the bride with a thoughtful gift, but sometimes it's difficult to know just what to give. Let me help!
These are my top ten wedding shower gifts that no one else will bring.
- Ingredients for recipes with recipe cards
- Laundry basket filled with homemade cleaners and recipes
- Ingredients for homemade laundry soap and recipe card
- Knitted or crocheted dishcloths and dish soap
- Gas card
- Apron
- Totes
- Embroidered pillowcases
- A bag filled with spices... even Aldi spices
- A cloth grocery bag filled with flour, sugar, brown sugar, baking soda, salt, vanilla, chocolate chips and my chocolate chip cookie recipe
The key here is that these are practical items that a wife needs.
She's a bride for a day and a wife for a lifetime!
God bless you and the brides in your future.

I have my go-to gift When I was married we got a 3 step kitchen ladder. I can't tell you how many times I have used it over the years. I started giving them a few years back and now it is expected when I get a shower invitation.
ReplyDeleteThat is an excellent idea Anne! Maybe I'll use that one someday. I just love the practical. You can only use so many serving bowls!
DeleteI like your quote. So much emphasis is spent on a one day wedding when I think the emphasis should be on the marriage.
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite shower gifts was homemade rags from my aunt. When she got married after WW2, paper towels were not invented and she only had her new wedding gifts with nothing to do cleaning with. So in the future, she cut up and hemmed old bath towels into rags. I used Aunt Bernice's rags so much, and from then on, I have made my own.
That would make a great gift for brides today. Thanks for sharing Rhonda!
DeleteI've given dishcloths to many ladies in our church for different occasions, and they still talk about how they like them.
Deletesuch good ideas Laura! These presents are something a bridge will treasure and remember. Something useful!
ReplyDeleteUseful is perfect for housewives. We are all housewives of one fashion or another!
DeleteWhat great ideas...I shall remember that if we ever get invited to a shower or wedding. smiles
ReplyDeleteIt seemed like we didn't get invited for a long time, but this year we've gone to two weddings.
DeleteBe blessed!
Laura
Yes. Just yes.
ReplyDeleteThoughtful, practiful gifts trump China and crystal any day.
Have a cozy day!
I do like china and crystal; and, and I do have some china. But, I've found it doesn't really fit our lifestyle of raising kids.
DeleteBe blessed Billie Jo!

DeleteLaura, this is an excellent and well thought out list. Something that I always gifted to brides-to-be, was a hamper of meal makings for the day or two after the wedding or honeymoon. Nobody wants to return to an empty freezer and pantry! Love your post. Mimi xxx
ReplyDeleteExcellent idea Mimi! I want to remember that one!

DeleteThese are really good ideas, Laura! I like all the pretties, too, but these are more important.

DeleteGreat list! I received a recipe box filled with hand-written family recipes. I use it regularly and treasure it. It is amazing to pull out a recipe written in my grandmother's handwriting. Thank you for sharing on Family Joy Blog Link-Up Party this week.
ReplyDeleteWhat a treasure! I'd love to have something like that in my grandmothers' writing.
DeleteI had guests bring recipe cards to my best friend's bridal shower, she loved it.
