Spring Reading List 2017

If you've been reading my blog long, you know I love to read. Since I'm a bit scatterbrained sometimes, Lowell don't say a word, I like to make reading lists. Now this list may seem a bit long since we're halfway through Spring, but I have already been reading some of the books.

Do you find it hard to make time to read? Don't fret. Snatch those small moments sprinkled here and there during the week. Snatch reading is key for ladies who have young children or work outside the home. Don't be without a book! For years my children would hear me tell them, as we were leaving the house, "Bring a book!" Still need suggestions? Try 5 Ways to Find Time to Read.

I hope this list inspires you to make a list of your own. Peruse your own shelves or stacks, the library, or read some of my book reviews

Happy reading!
Laura
Happy with my nose
in a book or a Kindle!

The Holy Bible King James Version
I read from John through Revelation.
Finished May 15
Listening on Bible Gateway and checking boxes on the
Canonical reading plan from You Version really helped me.

A Bride Most Begrudging
a tale about a woman kidnapped
and sold as a tobacco bride
I really enjoyed this one. It's clean.
Rosemary for Rememberance
Sunny Jeffers
Quite enjoyable. It's clean.
The Good Book

Read my review.

The Excellent Wife
I'm reading this.
I'm afraid I won't get this one finished.

When No One Was Looking
Read my Review

The Joy of Letting Go
I enjoyed this. Read my review.

God Loves Mommy & Me
Read my review.

Lessons at Blackberry Inn
I don't think I'm going to make it to this one.
and lastly,
a slim little volume written in 1931 titled
The Home and Christian Living
by Percy R. Hayward ad Myrtle H. Hayward
I found that much of the advice in this little book mirrors that of today.

    1. You too, Deb. I am a compulsive reader. ~grin~ Well, maybe not, but I sure do it when I can. I'm picky about what I read though. I really should remember to write in my posts that the books are clean. I don't read ones with bad language or inappropriate relationships, if you know what I mean.
      Have a wonderful Easter week!

  3. I am a book nut too Laura! I usually have 3 or 4 going at one time depending on the topic or genre. I can be reading a devotional one, a book on homesteading, some true story, and occasionally a fictional romance..usually from 1800's time period... With preparing to gain possession in 2 weeks of our little farmette, have been packing up my books..but making sure I know just where the boxes end up when they get moved!! So relaxing to curl up with a good book. I sure appreciate your list, as well as your reviews. You and your family have a blessed Easter . Sending a hug, Karla

  4. Laura, I also love to read. Always have. I was one of those kids that used the flashlight under the covers when I was supposed to be sleeping! I went to a really rough school for a few months when I was in 6th grade and I loved reading at lunchtime. Our library had a series about women. I remember Dolly Madison, Harriet Tubman, Susan B. Anthony, etc. There were about a dozen and I read every single one.

During HS & college, I would amass books I wanted to read in piles so I could read them during vacations. I now have a shelf in my office dedicated solely to what I'll read next! In order. Authors include David Baldacci, Sara Paretsky, & Lisa Scottoline. I'm a crime story junkie....maybe cuz my degree is in Criminology?! During the summertime, I lighten it up and read childhood books like Nancy Drews I still have, Little House, or whatever. I did order the Season series of books by Janette Oke from the library. I'll stop my crime spree for that when the library gets them.

I do my bible study in the morning and my regular reading while I'm waiting for dinner and before I go to sleep.

    1. Ah Debby, you seem to be a kindred spirit. Well, maybe not the crime books. I was abused as a child and tend to shy away from violence in entertainment. My son, on the other hand, is studying to be a law enforcement officer. Go figure. He's got a praying momma.

      Be blessed dear Debby!
Sleep well, may you not dream of your books!
      Smile,
      Laura

  5. I've always loved to read. I do have so much trouble finding time to read what I WANT to read, not just what I NEED to read!

    1. I agree completely Elizabeth. I review so many books, I don't read very many that I just want to read for fun.

    1. You're welcome, Jann. We finished painting the bathroom. I'll need to go shopping for some decor with my Hobby Lobby gift cards I got for my birthday and Christmas.
