Happy Homemaker Monday ~ September 10, 2018

As I write ...   Sunday evening

The weather.... Very cool... I'll need a blanket tonight.

Right now I am... achy because I've been leaning over the table planning and sewing.

Thinking... I need to be in bed. I've been staying up too late lately.

A quote to share...

our circumstances."

My prayer for you, my dear reader...

Father God, most likely each of my readers has something heavy on her heart. Father, I ask that whatever that need is—provision for a bill, for food, for education or whatever—healing for herself or a loved one—relief from pain, or fear, or anxiety—reconciliation with a loved one or between family members—salvation for someone they care about—I ask you to meet her needs. Holy Spirit, please make your presence known. Bring salvation, bring peace, bring faith, bring hope. Thank you so much for your provision of salvation and everything we need. I bless your Holy Name Jesus! Amen.

Thank you all for dropping in.
Please take a few moments and jot me a note.

  1. Bless your heart, thank you for your prayers! I enjoyed reading your post. I keep thinking that I would like to link up and do this, just haven't done it for some reason. Probably because I'm not sure I understand the "how to" instructions.
And yes, Jesus is the ONLY way! 💕

    1. You're quite welcome Vicki! If you'd like to email me your questions, I'll be happy to try to help you. lauraofharvestlane@gmail.com

Have a terrific week ending! I'll be over for a visit to your blog in just a bit.

I went sewing at a little quilt shop recently. They had bought some of those strong plastic bed risers and put them under the table legs. That brought the table to a more comfortable height to cut and iron. Perhaps that could help? I know you do a lot of sewing. I'd love to see some of your work.

  3. I love these posts, Laura! I hope you get relief from the side affects of your treatments soon. I've also been getting to bed too late, for a while now, and then last night I put myself to bed at 8:30pm! I was just so tired and obviously my body needed the extra sleep. So I'm determined to get more sleep at night now.

    1. Hi Camie,
Sorry it took so long to get to your comment! My body does cry out for extra sleep sometimes. I need to get to bed earlier. Sometimes I get the luxury of a nap, but not often lately. I'm coming for a visit to your blog.

    1. Thank you so much Linda. My computer time is just about up. When it is, I think I'm going to mend my husband's pockets. If you look at my list, you'll see pockets are a theme around here. Then I will either piece a little baby quilt or start some bowl huggers for the microwave.

  6. That bag is so pretty! You'd get along with my night owl younger teenager. We're going to be having a conversation tonight about going to bed at a reasonable hour, LOL. Hope you have a great week!

    1. Hey Jean,
Thank you! That's a bag I finished awhile back. I haven't made another one this month. I'm thinking about making some zippy bags. I haven't done that before. I think my girls might like them for sorting little items or organizing their purses.
I am attempting to do better about bedtime. I just feel like I need a little down time after the kids (17 and 21) that are home are in bed.
      Happy week!

  15. Laura, I have never posted, but I just wanted to tell you how much I am blessed by your blog. I enjoy all of your comments about home and family, but most of all I'm blessed by the love of Jesus that shines through you. I live alone, am widowed and look forward to your posts. They are like a visit from a close friend, one who shares my heart. You will continue to be in my prayers.

  17. So nice to see you sewing again Laura> I remember when I first found your blog, you had a couple beautiful bags listed for sale on eBay I believe... and there were little tea bag wallets..those were sold out, but I thought, what a talented seamstress. Isn't it nice to get back in the groove of things and enjoy again the things that were put on the shelf and back burner for a time. It's like a whole new start my dear lady..and you are an inspiration for courage and tenacity, but above all..FAITH in GOD!! And for THAT, I consider you a true blessing in my life.
a gentle hug across the miles Karla
P.S. My GMAIL picture is my little Toy poodle Buddy. He will wear sunglasses! And when you mention making a sweater for your pup, I have to smile, Buddy LOVES to wear a sweater..even in summer if air is on. Sometimes I don't think he knows he's a dog! He's a hoot.

    1. Wow Karla, you've been reading the blog for quite awhile! I couldn't remember when we first started talking together. I made all those little tea bag wallets, and I don't have one for me! I may need to make some more this month. They were fun. I've got lots of small pieces of fabric. I don't think I'm talented, but I tend to be fussy about the details. That's the quilter side of me I guess. I am enjoying getting back in the groove slowly but surely. I'm not requiring as many naps as I was. I still get tired, but not quite as quickly. I need to build up some endurance again.

I feel like I am getting a second chance at life. I am going to work toward making some changes. The sewing was the first since it is September. I didn't sew yesterday because of some unforeseen circumstances that kept me away from home (including a 3 hour homegoing funeral service). I am giving myself grace, because it's the right thing to do. I also spent quite a bit of time knitting since I was also waiting. Giving myself grace is also a change. More changes to come. ~smile~ Maybe I'll work on one each month.

For some reason, your picture of Buddy isn't showing up. Could you send me one? This will be the first sweater I've made for Penny. She hasn't had one before. They're not really available where I live though a new dog shop just opened on the square. Not in my budget though I'm sure. I've got to get on Amazon and order my needles so I can get started!

      Hugs to you dear friend,
      Mrs. Laura Lane

  18. It is always such a blessing to visit your blog Laura, and to hear how the Lord continues to be your source of strength in all that you've gone through! I most certainly loved the bag you sewed, it is gorgeous! It does feel good to sew and be productive. Perhaps in October when the days get shorter and the clock rolls back, I will spend more time doing some sewing. I miss it, and you have challenged me to get back at it :) So wonderful to hear that you have come through the chemo and are moving on with new and greater things in your life. You and your family continue to be in my prayers! Love you sweet friend!!!
