Hey y'all!
So glad you've joined me today. I looked back at March and realized I've not written much at all. I was wound up in too many things. I just didn't sit down to the computer and write. I apologize. You've stayed with me through my bad months of fighting cancer, and now I've gotten lazy on you. I intend to get myself in line and start writing regularly again. Thank you all for being so very patient with me and for praying for me.

Here's how my family has been thrifty lately
  • $2 cheeseburger 🍔 on half price burger night at Sonic yum!
  • Kept sorting things and did a little real estate investing by giving a lot away at knit night and at the thrift store.
  • I obtained several balls of pretty gray yarn from the knit night free table.
  • I bought some soft pajama pants for my Amy for just $1 at the local thrift store's half price sale.
  • I used a coupon to get lunch for under $5 at Arby's.
  • We burned wood instead of propane some of the cold days and nights.
  • I bought ground beef 80/20 on sale for $1.99 lb/frozen at the butcher shop.
  • I shopped at Aldi. I always save money there.
  • I found 93/7 ground beef marked $2 off per pound and bought three pounds.
  • I received children's books for review. One will be a baby shower gift.
  • I filled out an online survey for $2 off my queso on Knit Night.
  • I found a handmade item at a yard sale for a quarter that was similar to something I'd planned to knit. Yes, I bought it!
  • I found out I already have the book I need for next Book Club meeting—Little Women by Louisa May Alcott.
  • A dear friend took me out and bought me a chai tea latte. Thanks Beth!
  • Beth also gave me a bag of yarn odds and ends for charity knitting. Thank you!
  • My biggest money saver!  I signed up for a free trial of Scribd. It's a service where you can read or listen to books for just $8.99 a month with no limit.  My free trial will end in April. I already plan to keep the plan. My daughter and I are using it for school and for pleasure. We especially like the extensive list of audio books. Take a look. If you sign up from this link, you can get a two free months trial.  I've completed 5 books so far on audio.
That's my thrifty things lately.

  2. Hi Laura, I always am glad to see you are posting. We have been traveling this week and spending time with the kids. I always admire your tracking of your savings. Since I do not work anymore, I also try to save but we really don't buy that much just the two of us. Since we have diebetis and celiac disease I am reading labels a lot more. I wish they would offer a free class for us older folks on nutrition. There are so many prepared foods out there and they are so expensive. So I try to only buy fresh vegetables and fruits, rarely buy anything in a box or can anymore. Mom is keeping us all busy, her dementia is different each day. One day she is cooperative and one day she is undoing the cooperation of the day before. Its a roller coaster. Dr. Sacry and his nurses have been wonderful. I am so glad you are healthy and a survivor! Have a great weekend! jackie

    1. Hi Jackie!
I see Dr. Sacry, too! Have you asked at the hospitals or with the doctors office? I know that there is a diabetes support group at Mercy.
      Be blessed!

  4. Good to see you back! We didn't really need anything but milk and coffee creamer at the grocery store so Hubby just grabbed it at Walmart while he was there. We got $20 back from iBotta so a net gain of $15.51 for the food budget. I made my own potting mix from homemade compost and soil conditioner along with very cheap bags of top soil.

    1. Hi Lana,
I'm not sure what happened for awhile there, but I just didn't feel like writing. I've been reading a lot instead. I'm going to try to be more balanced now! You did great saving money.
      Blessings,
      Laura

I really like this verse. Our thoughts direct our steps.

    1. Dear Henny,
You're just too sweet. I have the same trouble keeping up. There are so many of us connecting these days, it might be a full-time unpaid job to keep up! We only have so many minutes, and I know you love your garden and creating. Just drop in as you can. Keep in touch.

    1. Love it when I get a good sale on hamburger. We don't eat much beef. It's just out of our price range usually.
      Happy April!

    1. Hi Mrs. Coller,
      ~smile~
I was invited to this book club by a homeschool mom several months ago. I wasn't feeling well enough to add one more thing to my schedule at that time. Fast forward to January this year. I contacted her, read the book, and showed up for the first time.. . It was like meeting a roomful of really good friends! I loved it. The February book was Christy...over 500 pages! It was a challenge, but I made it. I'm really enjoying the ladies and the discussion. It's on the last Tuesday night of the month. I have to leave my Knit Night meeting early. It seems like nearly every meeting I have is on Tuesdays!

I still want to sew with you, but Lowell is having knee replacement surgery on April 15th. It may be a couple months before I can join you.

      Hugs,
      Laura
