Hello ladies!
Recently, someone told me,
"If you don't have it,
you don't have to take care of it."
That was excellent incentive to begin decluttering again. It seems like a job that never ends. ~smile~
I think it's because, as time goes by, I become more willing to let things go. So, I've challenged myself to go through a drawer, a closet, a shelf, a something every day.
Ideally, I'd like to do it until at least the end of summer.
Officially—
Fall begins Monday 22nd at 1:19 p.m. central time.
How specific is that?
Realistically, I am going to see just how many days I can go without missing a day. I do plan to take Sundays off. You can watch my progress on Instagram @lauraofharvestlane . You can see updates on my knitting projects there as well.
Would you like to join me?

Yay! I was recently reading a devotional type of book and one of the things said "Let it go" (on many levels). It's helped me and I have a pile of things to go to donation :-) Have fun with it - maybe keep track of the silliest thing you come across~
ReplyDeleteGood idea. Nothing silly yet, but I'm sure there will be something eventually.
DeleteI would love to follow along however I don’t have social media. :( I hope you update your blog too! I wish you and your family a Happy Easter!
ReplyDeleteI'll do that. God bless!
DeleteI’m with you on this. I see all the stuff my parents and in laws and brothers have and I know either my children or my husband and I will have to deal with it. So as I organize or declutter, I think "do I need to keep this or will it just be something my children will end up having to deal with later?”
ReplyDeleteI’m keeping what I really need and either tossing or passing on now that unneeded stuff.
Before my husband’s surgery, our oldest came over to get some handicap stuff from the attic for us. He saw 3 in the attic and asked about them and we said "take them now”
I’ll be joining in daily with you on Monday and I did several bags of stuff over the last few weeks.
Our master closet and the kitchen cabinets especially need some real estate reclaimed in them,
Hope you and your family have a special Resurrection Sunday
Hi Rhonda, I understand. I was left to clear out much of my mother-in-love's things when she moved to an assisted living facility. I was amazed at the things she held onto. I'm getting older now and thinking about all the things I have especially in the garage! Blessings, Laura
DeleteThis is a great idea! I have been trying to declutter and organize too. I don't think I will be able to do one thing a day, but maybe one thing a week. I have made some progress in a couple of closets upstairs. Hope you have a wonderful Easter and a Happy Spring!
ReplyDeleteIt is a great idea, but it's making me tired already. Not doing it, but the pressure to do it!
DeleteI need to do this, too! Mostly in the kitchen & with homeschool/art supplies. And with my kids' toys 😬
ReplyDeleteHi Laura, I've been on a decluttering, clearing kick for the past almost two years !! This Easter weekend we spent some time on tidying up my husbands wardrobe and fitting some little shelves at the bottom for shoes. We also went through two bookcases and each cleared out half of the books from it that we no longer wanted...ahhh, it felt so good. I'm planning on sorting through my own wardrobe this week. Blessing to you and Happy Easter xox ~ Linda
ReplyDeleteHello Linda, You must feel so much better having gotten rid of so much. Even if we don't get rid of a lot, it's nice to know what we have is enjoyed and needed. Have a terrific fall day! Hugs, Laura
DeleteI have been doing this. Right now, I am purging closet shelves. I remove everything, purge the items, then line the wire shelves so clothing doesn't get those wire indentations on them (dusts a lot easier too). I do have a box of items to take to donate now. I do not use instagram. In fact, I am working on getting rid of my fb as well and staying off social media . I may even stop blogging (for several reasons). I have donated a lot of crafting items to the Children's director at the local library too. Have a nice week.
ReplyDeleteI love this, Laura! As you know, this subject is near and dear to my heart. We are getting ready to do another purge, as there are changes on the horizon, and we need to stay ready. I'm not on Instagram, but I'm definitely joining in with your minimizing endeavors. God bless you.
ReplyDeleteI'm not keeping it up every day. Bleh, but, I am going to keep at it anyway.
