Some Things I've Been Up To

Hey y'all, just a quick pop in to tell you some things I've been up to lately. Just one of those friendly chat kind of posts!

  • I'm slowly writing a cookbook which I may end up selling on the blog.
  • I'm trying to cook and eat with much less sugar and flour.
  • I'm doing paperwork to help my husband with his business.
  • I discovered my style now has a name—cottage core. I love floral prints, lace, sheers on the windows, plants, crafts, books, candles, handmade items, quilts, home baking, and anything cozy!
  • I've been knitting pair after pair of plain vanilla socks. I'm trying to get good at this style before moving on to another style.
  • I love sewing. I've been organizing my supplies. I cleaned my sewing table. I want to sew some project bags and pouches of different kinds. I'm almost done with my mending.
  • I've been reading and writing. No arithmetic!
  • I'm learning more about blogging. I want to update Harvest Lane Cottage a bit. Maybe I'll even have a little online shop someday.
  • I got a much needed pedicure!
  • I've been hanging out with my darling Lowell. We'll celebrate 35 years of marriage on May 24!
  • Bucket list
  • Reading list

So tell me, what have you been up to?

Blessings,

Laura

  2. We have been trying to clear out some things but end up adding more! Love the photo of the two of you! I'm also glad to see a comment from Michelle-ozark crafter as I have been concerned about her and Jack after their COVID stint.

  3. You've been busy girl! I've been reading a ton of books lately. I plan on getting back to crocheting again. I sewed a practice bodice for a dress to see if I need to adjust the pattern. I hope to at least cut out the dress itself if I can get over my fabric cutting anxiety!

  5. Thank you for the beautiful cards! I save each one! They always seem to arrive on days that I need a hug! Writing a cookbook sounds like fun! I've been running the past few months, I always seem to be constantly reacting to something happening in our family. Mom's house is cleaned out and we have a buyer. Mom is doing well adjusting to being at St. Lukes. We cleaned and purged this winter only to have to move her stuff in so I can go through it. Hope you are feeling well! ` jackie

I mostly take care of my parents now, not FT, but definitely a large amount of time (and a lot of space in my brain!) haha

AND....my in-laws just decided to move here as well, so in a couple of months, we will have BOTH sets of parents here.

I am reading "The Making of Biblical Womanhood" which I completely disagree with, but good to stretch this old brain and think about what I believe and why. Also using the DWELL app to listen to the Sermon on the Mount for my Ladies Bible Study.

Going to power wash as soon as we get our new roof put on.

Filled out all the paperwork (digitally) for refinancing today.

Going to start spring cleaning VERY soon. But it kinda already feels like summer here! ;)

MISS YOU LAURA! And I love your hair, it always looks so good, mine not so much!

I should clarify that the book is by a SUPER liberal professor and she thinks that history teaches that women should be pastors! ;) Name might be deceptive. Author is Beth Allison Barr.

  7. Oh good for you! I've said to people before if they want to feel better and loose weight there are 2 things to cut back on (sugar and flour). It's easier said than done. After the initial withdrawal (they have addictive properties) you will feel better. - So happy for your there. I need to pick up my knitting again - am kinda stuck. Things are beginning to open up a little here so maybe I can find someone to help me a bit. I have a stack of books to get to but haven't had much time. Little by little:-) Have a beautiful day.
