Saturday was the day that I started slowing down. Sunday, I realized I was getting sick. Monday, I was sick. Tuesday, I spent in bed. What was the problem? I caught cold. I was feeling so happy that I'd missed having a cold this winter even though others around me had colds and flu. Oh well, I suppose it happens to all of us.
Now it's Wednesday, and I'm slowly on the mend. All this to say, it's not been a very productive week. Nevertheless, here's what's been on and off my needles this week. ~smile~
Knitting: I haven't felt very motivated to knit this past week. Sometimes, when I figure out what the yarn is going to to, I lose interest in a project. This is the first merino wool pair of socks that I've knitted. It feels great in my hands. I'm not sure, however, how well they will wear since they have no nylon or polymide to reinforce the yarn. I shall see. ~smile~ I really like the socks. I decided to make shorty socks so that I can wear them with my tennis shoes and my casual solid purple dress. I've just begun the ribbing on the first sock. The colors pooled that way on the heel by themselves. I used the Fish Lips Kiss heel pattern as I do for most of my socks.
Sewing: I'm working on my bag making skills. I'm starting with fabric that I have on hand. As my skills improve, I'll begin buying fabric. Do you have a favorite place to buy whimsical or floral fabrics?
Glad to hear you are on the mend.
ReplyDeleteYour thrifty posts have inspired me. I've got a bedsheet that has a tear in it, and instead of throwing it out I'm going to patch it. Wish me luck!
I am not a knitter. I do embroider though. At the moment I am working on an oriental pheasant design. It is the largest, most complicated piece I have ever done and I am about 4/5 of the way through it. I started it about 18 months ago, so it's a real labour of love.
ReplyDeleteLaura, I'm sorry you're sick! Hopefully it's short-lived. Those socks look comfortable and those bags are cute. I bought one from a friend years ago and still love it. I hope you're on the mend. Have a great rest of the week :)
ReplyDeleteI'm still crocheting a baby blanket, I have one knitted dishcloth on the knitting needles, a few baby washcloths in the making (go-to travel project), and just made a granny square for my "book" blanket. I enjoy seeing what you are making. I have not learned to do much sewing, but I do have my Mom's sewing machine. I think the last time I used it was to sew baby goat coats using old pajamas from the kids. Gosh that was a long time ago.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry you were ill miss Laura.
ReplyDeleteBut at least you were still doing interesting things .
My husband caught RSV the second week of
January. He then proceeded to give it to me.
I did all the laundry, vacuumed, mopped, dusted.
I knew I was getting sicker by the hour.
The last thing I did was make a big pot of chicken noodle soup for my hubby.
Then down I went. It was February 23rd before I felt human again.
I was in bed for twenty days. I was to weak and short of breath to do anything for another week after.
I saw my doctor four times by tele health.
They didn't want me exposing other patients.
I had no idea adults even got RSV.
You can bet I'm getting the vaccine next year!
I love the little bag you made.
It is cute with the buttons and without them.
I like anything you post. I am working on a set of pillowcases, embroidery !
ReplyDeleteI love that little bag you made, I think I enjoy your sewing ideas! I belong to a book club myself, but sometimes the books do not hold my interest. I have found myself learning to junk journal, and I absolutely love it!! Just being creative and doing what you enjoy is wonderful as we have a little more spare time. And I hope you are feeling better! Hugs, Roxy
