I'm also going to be continuing my Out With the Old Challenge in an effort to go into fall with less stuff and more organized drawers and closets. I haven't done it every day, but I'm going to keep at it and not give up!
Lastly, I'll be casting on a pair of monster socks as part of the #monsterkal . It's a knit along for monster socks or Musselburgh hats. Monster comes from Frankenstein putting leftover parts together to make his monster. This is for scraps and mini skeins. It's hosted by Sue @smcarn . Watch my Instagram page or my Ravelry page for updates on my socks.
An example of crazy or monster socks
These are the colors that I've chosen.
So, to sum it up:
Sew 5 days a week for any amount of time.
Declutter one space every day until September 21st. Sundays off.
Cast on my monster socks September 1, and knit along every day until they're finished. Deadline October 15th.
Which goal will you join me in? Everything's so much more fun together!
Hoping for friends to join me!

Hello 👋🏻 I did my first out with the old, thanks to you. Hubby and I both recently got new undies but the old ones were still crowding the baskets that hold that part of our wardrobes. All the old ones are now gone and just the new ones are folded in their baskets. We’ve had a summer of doing very little to our home so I’m hoping after this holiday weekend, I can busy with some deep cleaning, more decluttering and maybe some sewing too.
ReplyDeleteThat's terrific, Rhonda! What a great start. I think most of us need to address that issue. I've not gotten nearly enough done over the summer. Let's remedy that.
DeleteGo girl! Let's keep busy!
Love the monster socks because they are so colorful and they look very comfortable. My project for the month of September will be to wrap up the food preservation for the winter...still have tomatoes to work up and some jam to try.
ReplyDeleteHi Joyful,
DeleteI'm glad you've been blessed with a good harvest. Our tomatoes are still growing, but the quality hasn't been good this year. We keep getting tomatoes that have yellow in the outside walls, and they don't taste great. I'm not a gardener, but I hope my husband figures it out before next year.
I do love to make jam, but my stove top isn't working right now, so no jam for me this year. If I can get it replaced before Christmas, I'll be jamming then for family gifts.
Have you ever made pineapple jam? Oh my! It tastes just like pineapple upside down cake—the good part!
Oh, I like the ‘beer months too. The weather is much nicer than the heat of summer. I like your idea of sewing several days each week. I need to join you on that goal. I can make some large casserole potholders for Christmas. The monster socks are so cute.
ReplyDeleteI've thought of making some of those potholders, too. First, I have to finish the bags that I'm making.
DeleteDo join me! I'd love to see and hear what you're making.
Laura
been doing a bit of sewing myself. I too love those monster socks so neat.........
ReplyDeleteI'm having fun with the monster socks, Gill.
DeleteHi Laura,
ReplyDeleteLove the monster socks and the colors you've chosen.
I definitely will be joining you in sewing this month, as well as other things I'm making for Christmas gifts. I'm continuing to make potholders and jar openers to match. Also hand embroidering some flour sack tea towels that were in my stash. I'm also knitting spa clothes, I bought a bag of lavendar scented epsom salts for $5 at Walmart and am making packets of bath salts using scrap booking paper to put the salts in and will make pretty boxes from cardstock to put the spa clothes and bath salts in. This should make quite a few gifts . Cookie
I'm interested in how to make your jar openers, Cookie. Will you share? You can send a photo directly to me at the email on sidebar.
