My Daybook ~ August 24, 2015

Join us at The Simple Woman!
Dear Ladies,
Good day! So soon a week has passed again. I'm feeling the crisp promise of Autumn in the air. I get just a little over-the-top for Autumn. It's my favorite season. So many wonderful things to do, to make, to feel. I adore it!

I overslept this morning a bit. It can happen on chilly mornings. I had set my alarm for 6:20 a.m. I planned to oversleep a tiny bit. ~smile~ What I didn't realize is that it was set for Tuesday - Friday! So I woke up at 7:08! Oh well, I must have needed it. Now if I can just move a little quicker so that the day won't be all off! So, a quick little Daybook this morning is the result. Have a terrific week, and do let me know what you're up to and if I can pray for you.

May God fill you with His perfect peace and an intense awareness of His presence and His love for you this week.
Laura

Outside my window...
Bright cheerful sunshine after a weekend of rain and a flash flood Saturday in our front yard.
View from our dining room window
I am thinking...
I am getting excited about crisp mornings and cozy evenings
I also was able to procure more of the books I need school last week. I used ebay and was able to use PayPal credit.  That took a big pressure off my husband. I just need to finalize plans so that I can see if there's anything else I need to find.

I am thankful...
My daughter had a fun birthday party even though there was flash flooding in the area Saturday.
View through the car window of our front yard. The water was rushing.
In the kitchen...
I need to take inventory of what we have on hand. I'm going to try to eat from what we have as much as possible though supplies are getting low. There are just too many other expenses this time of year.

I am wearing...
my black long sleeved t-shirt and my gray skirt.

I am creating...
plans. That's about it. I know you're expecting a photo of my dress. I didn't even sew last week. I was too tired when I did have the time. Sometimes I just don't feel like hauling everything out and putting it away when I'm done. Lazy I suppose. ~smile~

I am going...
to be home most of the day today. I'll bet that's a surprise to my regular readers. Mondays are usually my running days. My son changed his work schedule since school started. Now he works only one day a week. That will be much easier for me since he works on a ranch about twenty minutes from here.

Missing their little kiddle days
Clarification...
We homeschool our children. Emily is a senior and is taking two college classes, English 101 and College Orientation, in addition to her homeschool lessons. That's why I must take her to school. Fortunately, the classes she is taking are in our hometown and only about five miles away.

I am wondering...
how to put more hospitality into our schedule.

I am reading...
It's Good to Be Queen—Liz Curtis Higgs' new book. I am chipping away at it when I have a few moments to snatch.

I am hoping...
to set aside time to sew. I mean it. I really want to finish that dress I've been telling you about. I know. I know. I said that last week, too. Today I am determined to press the seams I've sewn so far.

I am looking forward to...
more birthday parties over the next two weeks. My daughter is going to have a formal tea party to celebrate her 18th birthday.

I am learning...
about the new writing curriculum The Power in Your Hands that I'm going to use with my 8th and 10th graders this year.

Around the house...
laundry...laundry...laundry.... Yes. I said it last week, too. Yes. I'll probably say it next week, too...and the week after...and the week after.... I also have birthday streamers in our kitchen, dining room and living room. They will remain and be added to until birthday season is over mid-September. Then Autumn decorations will make their debut!

I am pondering...
how to make this last high school year with Emily more fun.

A favorite quote for today...

One of my favorite things...
photos of beautiful places. I will never go all the places I'd love to go, but like books, beautiful photos allow us a momentary travel to another time or place.

A few plans for the rest of the week:
hitting the books with the kids.

A peek into my day...
My daughter was excited to find my husband's name during her math lesson.

May the God of Shalom peace,
nothing missing, nothing broken, nothing lacking
bless you as you seek to love Jesus and know Jesus
with all your heart, mind, soul, and strength.

  1. Good Morning, Laura!

I'm so happy to have found your blog. You work hard to take care of your home and family and I admire that.

My prayer request is for my Daddy. He is 78 and suffers from high bp, diabetes and has open heart surgery and many heart caths with stents. He has been battling pneumonia this summer and just can't seem to beat it. His name is Harold and I appreciate your prayers on his behalf.

  2. Dear Sheila,
I am honored to pray for your daddy.

Father God, I thank you that you love Harold and that you, Jesus, took stripes on your back for his healing. I speak life, health, and peace to his body in your Name Jesus. I plead the blood of Jesus over Harold tonight. I speak hope and salvation into the lives of Harold and everyone involved. Father God, you are the God of miracles and more than enough. I ask you for a miracle now for Harold and for his family. Pneumonia, you must bow your knee to Jesus. Be gone in Jesus' Name! Jesus, Sheila believes, help her with her unbelief. Help her trust completely in You. Wrap Harold in your loving peace. I ask all of this with respect, in Jesus' Name. Amen.

Blessings to you Sheila, thank you for sharing your heart with me.

  7. Good evening, dear Laura! I just finished putting up over 100 cobs of corn and I must say I giggled at your comment about sleeping in because I think that's going to happen to me tomorrow...I won't want to get up after today {{smiles}} I always enjoy reading your Day Book posts and I'm glad you shared this with Roses of Inspiration. 8. Oh Stephanie,
We're overflowing with cucumbers! It's the ONLY thing in our garden that is growing well this year. We made some dill pickles a week or so ago, my youngest and I. It's a bit of work. I don't really like pickles, so I'm having a hard time getting excited about doing the next ones!
    Have a good weekend,
    Laura

Thanks for writing me back!

This life only works with Jesus. The next life is a continuation of this one—make sure you spend it with Jesus. Jesus is the only way to God the Father!
