Happy Homemaker Monday ~ October 9, 2017

As I write ... Sunday evening

The weather....  Pleasant day, sunny with a few clouds floating overhead, not too hot, not too chilly. As evening came on, it grew chilly—just as fall evenings should be!

Right now I am... just relaxing.

Thinking... I'm thinking about my upcoming surgery. I will have my bilateral mastectomy on October 20th. I'm thinking about who might be available to help me after my surgery.

A quote to share...

♥♥♥♥♥
On my reading pile...  Believe it or not, I don't really have a reading pile right now. I usually have books to review, but I've been declining offers for the last few months. I'm still reading Bible Faith Study Course slowly. There's just so much good teaching in it.

Favorite blog post last week...

Something fun to share...

On the menu for this week...
  • Monday...   Ham steak, broccoli, and side salad
  • Tuesday...   Chicken and dumplings with mashed potatoes
  • Wednesday...  Church supper - bbq pulled pork or chicken sandwich
  • Thursday...  Something with chicken breasts
  • Friday...  Family Movie Night at church... We'll probably eat concessions.

On my to do list...
  • Make a list of everything I want to do before surgery.
  • Do some things on my bucket list.
  • Put out some more fall decorations.

In the workbasket...
  • I've just cast on a hat. I love having a knitting project on the needles.
  • I usually keep a dishcloth on my crochet hook. I like knitted cloths, too, but they take much longer to knit. I use dishcloths for small gifts.
  • I'm embarrassed that this is still on my list! I really should hem my husband's jeans. They've been waiting awhile. I'm always afraid to make the cut!
  • I need to hem my daughter's work pants, too.

Looking forward to this week...
  •  Monday - pre-op appointment at the hospital
  • Thursday - My friend is coming to help me around the house.
  • Saturday - We're taking all our kids, even the grown ones, on a destination unknown. I'd love to tell you where we're going, but this would be the one time they actually read my blog if I did!

Looking around the house...  I see so much that I want done before surgery, but I'll just have to accept that I haven't regained my strength, stamina, and energy after chemo yet.

From the camera...
Salmon Salad

    Devotional...

    On my prayer list...

    • Peace of Jerusalem and Israel

    • Wisdom, health, and protection for President Trump, Vice-President Pence, and their families.

    • Healing for our country so that we may be ONE nation under God.

    • Cancer will die the death in my body. My heart, brain, organs, spleen, and healthy cells will be protected. I will live and not die and declare the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living. Psalm 118:17

My prayer for you, my reader...

Jesus, I thank you that you hear our prayers. Father, I thank you for sending Jesus. Holy Spirit, I thank you for being our comforter and our teacher. Lord God, three in one, I thank you that you personally know each one of my readers. You know each one's needs, fears, hopes, problems, pains, and illnesses. I ask you God to speak directly to each one, to meet each person's needs, and heal each physical problem. Bless each spiritually, physically, socially, and financially. I ask it all by the power of the Blood of Jesus, in Jesus' Name. Amen.

    Thanks for dropping by!

    Please say hello.

    1. Hi, Laura!
I've been praying for you when you come to mind. I think you are wise to tackle those projects before surgery so that your body can rest and heal afterward. I'm praying you have lots of help too. I stand believing Ps 118 with you for a total healing. Sending lots of love and hugs from Arizona!

    2. I'm praying that all goes well for your upcoming surgery! I just have to say that my cats liven up each time I visit your blog. They hear bird chirps and look around for the birds! Stay positive! Keep a smile on your face! I hope you have a GREAT Monday and week! Thank you for the comment you left on my blog about my mom with dementia! :)

    4. I'm praying for two surgical teams this month! Yours, of course and for another friend. He had colon cancer (looks to be gone) and is having a reverse ileostomy (I think I spelled that right). May you both be blessed with good outcomes!

I had to chuckle over your husband's jeans. I have a project that I've embarrassingly neglected for a bit too long, as well. It's my hope to do it tomorrow! Next time we check back, we'll both have finished, right?! ;)

We're having a cold front come through any time now. If I'm reading right, tonight's temps will be in the low 40's and tomorrow will only be about 50! Then, it's supposed to be 80 by Friday! Crazy weather.

Don't try and do too much before your surgery! Make sure to eat well and get plenty of rest.

      Blessings to you, Laura!

      1. Oh thank you so much Debby! I am afraid my husband's jeans may just wait!
I have put some stitches in the hat though.
It was cold here last night. I wanted an extra blanket last night.
You're right. I need to pace myself.

Thank you for praying for peace and calmness. I'm feeling a bit anxious. I need to keep my eyes on Jesus not on the storm.

      1. Thank you, Marilyn. I think a local friend is going to set up a Meal Train for us. I've also had two friends offer to come help with cleaning and laundry next week. I'm blessed. I've prayed God would send the right people at the right time. He's done it so far, why would he quit?

I just made a salad, then I mashed up canned salmon and put it in the center. I wouldn't have bothered mashing it, but hubby doesn't like to see skin and bones.

        Be blessed!

    15. Greetings, Laura! I'm so far behind on everything that it isn't funny. I'm sorry for being MIA! I enjoyed reading this post and can't wait to hear more about your trip "destination unknown". How mysterious! :) Wherever you're going, have a complete ball! I'm looking forward to the 19th and home to come down and spend some time after surgery. Keep me posted. Love you, friend! <3

      1. Hello Friend Rebecca,

I found myself getting anxious last night thinking about the the surgery, the recovery, the radiation, things I need to get done, and this out of control feeling. I broke down crying last night. I was looking too much at the storm. I need to get my eyes back on Jesus. He's my anchor in this storm.

I'm trying to be strong, but I need to lean on Jesus my true strength.

I'm looking forward to the 19th, too. I think it will be great to spend time with you ladies. I'll have to decide if I'm ready to try something else!

I do hope you can come down after surgery sometime. I understand that I'll not be up to going out for a bit afterward. I expect I'll be quite happy for company.

        Hugs to you!
        Laura

    18. Oh dear Laura, forgive me as I am just catching up a bit. I haven't been home or online much in the past week or so. If I were closer, I would work on laundry mountain for you 😊 I don't like to be in the way, but I know all too well how to do laundry. Wishing you every blessing and many many prayers. I hope your day is filled to the brim with love and all the things that make you happy.
