Easy, Old-Fashioned, Homemade Lemonade

Hello Friends!
Lemons are wonderful.  I love to put a fresh slice in my water, so pretty and tasty.  Don’t you just love fresh lemons?  They’re bright and cheerful.  They look great in a fruit bowl.  They make scrumptious lemon meringue pies.  They make delicious lemon bars.  They make the best homemade lemonade.   Why not buy a few today?
Homemade Lemonade
Serve this over crushed ice with a slice of lemon; and, you have summertime anytime!
You can use fresh squeezed lemon juice or bottled lemon juice. Fresh is best of course. Sliced lemons floating in the pitcher add a nice touch. This is my favorite recipe.
For 2 quarts:
1 cup lemon juice
1 cup sugar
6 cups water
For 1 gallon:
2 cups of lemon juice
2 cups of sugar
12 cups of water
Bring the lemon juice and sugar to a boil over medium-high heat. This causes the sugar to completely dissolve. Then pour the lemon sugar mixture into a pitcher which already has cold water in it. That way you won’t break your pitcher!
Adjust ingredients to your sweet tart preferences.
Enjoy and God bless!

On My Needles and What I'm Reading... August 19, 2021

On my knitting needles... in my Scribd app... on my book pile! Knitting and reading in my free time and little bits of snatched time are two of my favorite ways to enrich my life.

 Hi everyone!

It's the first week of college for my younger daughter and my younger son. One is at the Christian college in the next town. One is at the state university in the next town. My daughter moved into the dorm last Friday. I have to admit I'm missing her. My son's been living on his own for awhile. Sorry about the lack of photos. I've had a week of appointments and haven't transferred any to the computer. I'll do better next week. ~smile~

On my Needles:

~ I finished the dishcloths I was crocheting for a wedding gift. On to knitting.

~ I just cast on a second ankle sock. It's in shades of blue and green. I started the first one in June as part of the Crazy Sock Lady's Summer Camp 2021. When I knit the toe for the second sock, it didn't match. I ripped it out (frogged it) and set it aside. After a break, I was ready for the second one. I'm almost finished with the toe now, and it's looking great.

~I just took a little toddler cap off the needles. It's Helix stripes. Red, yellow, blue, and green. I knit it with yarn my friend, Beth, found for me at a yard sale. She bought a whole box for just $2! Gotta love thrifty buys! Thanks Beth! I'll share a photo later.

On My Scribd App:

~ I'm listening to The New Testament ~ The Audio Bible  narrated by Simon Peterson.

~ I just finished this book. I really enjoyed it. A Time to Seek  by Tracy Higley. I'm reading this for my book club meeting at the end of the month. So far, I've loved everything I've read by Tracy Higley.

On my Book Pile:

~ The Barrister and the Letter of Marque by Todd M. Johnson

~ Husband Auditions by Angela Ruth Strong

Don't forget to be in God's word. I'm in Luke right now.

Have a blessed week. Please let me know if you have a prayer request. Talk to you soon!

 Hugs to all,
 Laura

Hello ladies,

This week I am continuing to regain stamina. I notice improvement daily. Thank you all for your prayers. This week, I'm going to write my list day-by-day to see if it helps me do something daily. The garden is producing tomatoes, basil, jalapeno peppers, green peppers, and cucumbers right now. I need to find ways to use them or preserve them. Thank you for your bounty LORD.

Here's what I've been up to this week.

Monday
  • I made banana bread from overripe bananas. The plain top had pecans and golden raisins. The one with toppings had raisins and walnuts on one side and just walnuts on the other.

Tuesday
  • I made pasta sauce from tomatoes, basil and a pepper in our garden. I added onion and spices.

Wednesday
  • I crocheted another dishcloth while visiting with a friend and drinking peach iced tea. I steeped one family size bag of Lipton tea and one single serving size bag of Celestial Seasonings peach tea in 1 1/2 quarts of boiling water. I let it cool, added ice, and served it. It made two quarts.

Thursday
  • I made a long to do list. By the time I headed to bed, nearly all of it was finished. I didn't really do anything thrifty, but it felt good to get some things done.
  • More crocheting and a bit of knitting on a toddler hat made with yarn my friend gave to me. Thanks Beth! I had to stop, because my hands were tired.
Friday
  • I said good-bye to my Amy who is off to college. She's my youngest. It seems surreal. She's in a nearby city. So we'll see her, but she's living on campus.
  • Feeling tired today, so nothing extra, but I do need to get the wedding gift ready for tomorrow.

Thank you for praying for Penny when she had limp tail. She is back to normal and wagging that tail regularly.

Britfield & the Rise of the Lion, Book II of the Britfield Series by C.R. Stewart

This book is sooo good! Britfield & the Rise of the Lion by C.R. Stewart is book two in the Britfield series. I reviewed Britfield & the Lost Crown and couldn't wait for the second book to be released. This is an amazing book. The research Mr. Stewart put into it made it a book rich with descriptions. The intricately detailed plot made it a page turner filled with action, adventure, and deep political intrigue. And yet, this exceptional book is written for young adults and teens. I think it would be well-received by ages 13 on up through adults.  There are plans to make the first book and subsequent books into movies. They will be first-rate action movies.

I don't want to give the plot away, but while reading, one learns geography,  art, and gets a hefty dose of political conspiracy theories as well.  It's intense in some scenes, but there are honorable characters as well as heinous characters.

I found it truly fascinating. I highly recommend this series. I think it's good for both girls and boys, but I think boys will eat it up. After all, there are weapons and altercations involved.

If you've got a teen who likes action, I'd put this series on your shopping list this holiday season.

  5 stars

Now, a note from the publisher.

********

“Shortly before best friends Tom and Sarah escaped from Weatherly Orphanage in northern England, Tom discovered that his parents might still be alive and was left with a single clue: Britfield. After the harrowing pursuit of Detective Gowerstone across the country and through the city of London, they were thwarted once again when the ferry transporting them across the English Channel sank. Now in France over six months later, Tom and Sarah are trapped on an island fortress and face an entirely new enemy: a nefarious and clandestine group with unlimited resources. Searching for the truth, Tom and Sarah must navigate the streets of Paris, Cathédrale Notre-Dame, the Eiffel Tower, and the Louvre, chased by an assassin determined to remove any potential threat to the British throne. Aided by old friends and new allies, Tom and Sarah’s face-paced adventure is filled with twists and turns, unexpected betrayals, and life-changing revelations.”

From the author:
“Continue the extraordinary Adventure . . .

What are you all up to this week? I've been busy in the kitchen and busy crocheting dishcloths. I've been trying to squeeze in a bit of reading here and there. The

I'm about three quarters through this. You'll see a review soon. I loved book one.

Loving this one!

Don't forget to be in God's word. I'm in Romans again in addition to listening to the audio New Testament. I have been restarting when I finish it lately. It's always been a hard book for me. I want to get more familiar with it. I've been using Bible.com for studies related to Romans, too.

Have a lovely week! What is on your needles? What are you reading? I would love to know. The fun of blogging is in interacting with readers. Talk to you soon!
