Welcome to another
Thrifty Week at Harvest Lane Cottage!
Each week I share ways I've saved money, my thrifty and frugal projects, and my blessings from God.
I am so glad you dropped in for a visit today—or tonight!
Please say hello! I'm always looking for new blog friends!

Hello!
What a ride I've been on for the last couple of weeks! I know I've neglected y'all. I've neglected a lot of things around here for the last couple of weeks. I've been pretty tired from the radiation—not only the treatments but the travel to and from the city next door. I'm tired today, too, but I'm also energized because I know I am finished with radiation! Praise God! It's just in time. I was beginning to burn. I've got cream to put on it, but I would appreciate your prayers. The doctor and the techs said that my skin did very well, great in fact. That's surprising since I get sunburned very easily. I prayed every time that God would be a shield around me and shield my heart, lungs, and skin. Psalm 3:3. He's taken such good care of me through all of this.

Here's my thrifty week!
You'll find that I both sowed by giving away
and reaped by receiving gifts.

God is so good!
- My husband saved money by painting the window frame that we hired rebuilt and the door frame that we had rebuilt. He repainted the back door, too. This saved us quite a bit. Thank you Lowell!
- I refilled my Bath and Body foam soap dispenser. I put in about an inch of my lavender bubble bath. Then I filled it with water to just under the little aerator dispenser pump.
- I finished knitting one hat and started another using yarn that was donated. One hat will be for the chemo center. I'm still deciding about the other one.
- A new friend from the knitting group that I've joined gave me two bags of yarn. She was one of the ladies who was amazed a couple of weeks ago to find out that I had knit and crocheted through all of my stash. It gave her a chance to de-stash a bit. I'm still finding room for it all. Thank you Shelly!
- There were two balls of fingering weight coral yarn in one of the bags. I am not a coral person, so I took it to the homeschool co-op with me. The lady I sat with was happy to receive it to make something for a new baby in their family. It was the perfect color.
- My daughter and I gathered and gave away a box full of items.
- I received a free cappuccino from Kum & Go as one of their rewards. Getting a cappuccino each morning put the treat in treatment for $1.67 a day. It gave me something to look forward to. The habit should be easy to break since we don't have a Kum & Go in our town.
- I bought an unsweet iced tea at McDonalds. I brought it home and kept adding ice and water, so I had weak tea the second day. I don't mind weak tea. I never heard it called unsweet until I moved to southern Missouri (Missouruh).
- Sarah, of Lilacs and Springtime, sent me a beautiful lavender apron, some stickers, and a handkerchief. I chose to save it until after my treatments to celebrate a new season of my life. Spring is coming with renewed life in many ways this year. You simply must look at Sarah's Etsy shop. Her stitching is excellent. Thank you Sarah!
- I decided that I wanted two crosses for my wall in the bathroom to complete one wall and balance the large Faith Hope Love sign. Someone brought just what I had in mind to give away at our homeschool co-op. I try to bring something to give away on a regular basis. Sowing and reaping. Thank you God! You knew just what I needed! Thank you Saline!
- Karla sent me my favorite tea, Constant Comment, and a box of books and goodies. It added some happy to my day yesterday! Thank you Karla!
- After my last radiation appointment this morning, I was speaking with the cashier—a sweet older lady named Alice—and told her it was my last treatment. She's been watching my progress. She was thrilled for me. The lady behind me, whom I'd spoken to while we were making our drinks (I talk to strangers a lot. Here's why.) spoke up and bought my cappuccino for me to celebrate! What a sweet thing. Turns out she's a homeschooler, too. Small world. Thank you ma'am!
That's my thrifty week.
What are you doing in your home this week?

Thank you all for writing to me. I read every comment. I truly appreciate the support you've all given me during my treatments. If you'd like a response to your comment, please make sure that I have your email. I'm not taking time right now to copy responses onto the blog. I am having trouble keeping up. Please understand. Thanks! Laura
