I'm the Worst. Sin, Bitterness, Forgiveness

"The resurrection of Christ is one of the foundation-stones of Christianity. It was the seal of the great work that He came on earth to do. It was the crowning proof that the ransom He paid for sinners was accepted, the atonement for sin accomplished, the head of him who had the power of death bruised, and the victory won."
~ J.C. Ryle

One of my daughters was crying this morning.  She said that her sister always thinks she's the worst.  I disagreed.  I told her I'm the worst.  We talked a bit and she felt better.  I also talked to older sister about needing to be four years older and wiser and kinder.

I really thought about it though.  We're all the worst.  We're all filled with sin.  We might look at another whose sins are showing on the outside and think we're better.  After all, our sins are hidden on the inside.  We look all nice and cleaned up and Christian.  Maybe a definition for the term "holier than thou" might be "My sin is more hidden than yours".

I've been really looking at my heart lately.  I don't like what I see.  There is bitterness that has taken root.  It's the result of keeping a record of wrongs and offenses.  God forgive me.  I repent.  Please cleanse me.  Does that mean it's completely gone?  No.  I'm afraid not.

You see, even though I've asked God for forgiveness and repented, I have the choice each time the offense comes again to dig up the old buried sin and revive it in my heart and mind.  That's the hard part.  I have to determine not to be offended.  I have to determine to forgive quickly if I do feel offended.  I have to turn away from the past, forgive, and give the person a fresh new start...just like the new start I received from Father God through the blood of Jesus Christ his son.

I want to start fresh again.  I want to give my offender the gift of a new start, too, even if he doesn't even know he needs it.

Forgiveness is for the forgiver not just the person being forgiven
Do you have any hidden sins, hidden offenses, hidden bitterness?  What's taking root in your life?  Are you ready for a fresh start?  The power to get and give a new fresh start come from the same person.  God the Father, through the power of the Holy Spirt, by the blood of God's son, Jesus Christ.

Be willing.

Not too many folks take time to enjoy life anymore it seems. There is pleasure in the process, not just the product.

She (and He) Rises Before Dawn... Morning Baking at Harvest Lane Cottage Bakery

I actually got to sleep in a little late this morning.  Lowell got up early and made the cinnamon rolls.  We sell these to friends and acquaintances every Friday.  We also take special orders for other days.

Next came my turn in the kitchen.  I made Whole Wheat Bread with wheat I ground just seconds before I put it into the dough.  Talk about fresh taste!
Wow!  And I wish you could smell my kitchen!

I also made some yummy wheat rolls, too.  These were a special order.  We bake our products on designated days, but we are happy to take special orders.

Chocolate Meringue Pie tonight!

It's been a productive morning.   I have been going through boxes to get ready for a yard sale this morning. I made homemade macaroni and cheese for lunch. Hubby is making a pie crust for me; then, I'll be filling it. Chocolate meringue pie is on the menu for tonight. I sold one pie and one is for us. Yum!

Fresh Baked Bread

It has to be the best fragrance in the world!  Homemade bread right out of the oven.  I made honey oat bread today.  It looks just like the bread at the top of my blog.  Tonight we're going to share it with good friends.  Good friends sharing good food and good conversation.  What a good evening it will be!

Thanks to the ever good God for friends!
