Hello Ladies!
Crocus and Daffodils are a bloomin' here in southern Missouri.
I've about given up on snow.
It's okay. There's always next year.
~smile~
If you've been reading awhile, you know my husband has been out-of-work since we closed our restaurant in December. God has been so good to us. By the end of last week, I was getting a little tired and down. It's hard to make do sometimes.
God must have known that I needed to be uplifted. This has been a week of blessings. Today, I opened a blessing box from my friend Rhonda and felt joy just burst forth in me. I felt so loved. It's incredible the relationships we can make in the blogging world. Jesus brings us together in so many ways.
~ Groceries from God! Someone gave money to my husband anonymously at church. Hubby bought groceries and surprised me! Praise God! We were getting down to odds and ends.
~ A dear reader offered to send me yarn for making dishcloths. Yes! Thank you God and giver!
~ I got a new book, Red Door Inn, for review.
~ I got a $10 handshake for gas. Thank you Jesus!
~ Someone gave us lots of canned corn and green beans, some Ramen noodles, hot chocolate mix, and sugar. Thank you Jesus!
~ A blessing box came in the mail from my friend Rhonda with all kinds of necessities: laundry soap, deodorant, toothpaste, razors, soap, dental floss, hand and skin creams, facial cleanser and lots of cotton dishcloth yarn! Praise God! It was perfect timing. I'm doing my best with what I've got, but it's getting a bit harder.
~ I made homemade deodorant. My husband thinks it's working fine.
~ I made foaming hand soap again. I didn't realize how much we go through until I started making it!
~ I really stretched the canned clam chowder soup my husband brought home. I used 2 cans soup and about 3/4 can milk. It was thin, so I thickened it with cornstarch. I didn't say anything. My family didn't say anything. Score!

How are you blessing your family with your thrifty ways this week?

Hi Laura,
ReplyDeleteAll the products were from CVS and you've read how I roll the deals there.
The yarn is from my moms cast offs.
It makes me happy to be able to help out you and your sweet family :)
((((hugs))))
ReplyDeleteWonderful blessings! God is just so awesome like that...just when you are in need he provides. Looking back over the years, there have been times that on paper, well, it just didn't make sense. Like the 14 months my dh took off (after a plant closing & loss of a 20 year job) to go to college and complete his degree. At the same time as our two sons were in college, the 3 of them carpooled. We should never have been able to financially make it, but with God all things are possible!
I'm thankful to hear you are well :~)

Hello Laura! God is so good to us, isn't he? When we least expect it, He is there. Always. What treasures you received this week. Its always nice to get a box full of necessities in the mail.
ReplyDeleteI haven't been hardly any where this week, so I saved right there! Last weekend we went stock up shopping and now I don't have to run to town as often. Yay! We do have a new little addition to our family, a puppy named Daisy. She's about 8 weeks old. I forgot what its like to have a puppy in the house. Just like a baby. I love that she's roaring and ready to go at 5:30... NOT! A few sleepless nights, make for a looonngg day! ;)
I noticed my rose bush has little green leaves on them, I think Spring is closer than we think. Its suppose to be 75 here today. Crazy! We could sure use some moisture...its very dry here. There was a fire close to where we live just the other day. Scary.
I hope you have a wonderful day!
Keeping you and your family in our prayers!
Hugs, Amy
God knows just what we need and when we need it! I do pray that your husband will find work soon and that things will be easier for you.
ReplyDeleteHello dear! Lots of daffodils here in NW Arkansas. I miss my little house in Mo with my daffodils and morning glories and johnny jump ups. Blessings.
ReplyDeleteGod is awesome.. Just love when He shows His marvelous love to us.. He is always on time...just when we need it. smile..
ReplyDeleteMy favorite verse..Psalms 46:1 God is our refuge and strength , A very present help in trouble.. I just love this verse... the "very present".. is wonderful .. that means ,right now.. He is always there, and supplies our needs.
Praying for your hubby, pray he will find a job real soon.. Know its hard right now. Sending a big ole hug and prayers. Judy
This post made my heart happy! I keep thinking Philippians 4:19 as I was reading this. I know it was a blessing to those who were able to help out as it is very fulfilling to give. I am glad you received some much needed encouragement!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for your prayers, Judy. We have so many brothers and sisters praying for us, I just know God's working it all out.
ReplyDeleteThat verse is powerful! Thank you for sharing it with me!
Hugs,
Laura
It's dry here, too, Amy. We never did get any snow. That's very unusual. I don't know whether we'll get any rain soon or not. The bugs have already started coming out. We really need a good freeze.
ReplyDeleteBe blessed! Enjoy your good weather!
Laura
You are so right Kathryn! Thank you for sharing your testimony with me!

ReplyDeleteThis was a wonderful post. I'm sure that God will use you and your openness to help someone. I am praying for you. I know a little of how your feeling right now. We were actually homeless a few years ago. God Blessed and gave The Cowboy a job that got us through. We lived in a Motel for 3 months. The two of us and a dog and a cat. I viewed it as an adventure. Thankfully it didn't last too long. I was reviewing books then so I did get some books to read. And I had the internet so I could stay connected. I will be praying for you and thinking of how I can help you. Sending you a hug and much love.
ReplyDeleteXXOO.
Praise God for the blessings you received and for taking care of you and your dear family! May He continue to pour out His richest blessings upon you. :)
