Hey y'all!
So glad you've joined me today. I looked back at March and realized I've not written much at all. I was wound up in too many things. I just didn't sit down to the computer and write. I apologize. You've stayed with me through my bad months of fighting cancer, and now I've gotten lazy on you. I intend to get myself in line and start writing regularly again. Thank you all for being so very patient with me and for praying for me.

Here's how my family has been thrifty lately
  • $2 cheeseburger 🍔 on half price burger night at Sonic yum!
  • Kept sorting things and did a little real estate investing by giving a lot away at knit night and at the thrift store.
  • I obtained several balls of pretty gray yarn from the knit night free table.
  • I bought some soft pajama pants for my Amy for just $1 at the local thrift store's half price sale.
  • I used a coupon to get lunch for under $5 at Arby's.
  • We burned wood instead of propane some of the cold days and nights.
  • I bought ground beef 80/20 on sale for $1.99 lb/frozen at the butcher shop.
  • I shopped at Aldi. I always save money there.
  • I found 93/7 ground beef marked $2 off per pound and bought three pounds.
  • I received children's books for review. One will be a baby shower gift.
  • I filled out an online survey for $2 off my queso on Knit Night.
  • I found a handmade item at a yard sale for a quarter that was similar to something I'd planned to knit. Yes, I bought it!
  • I found out I already have the book I need for next Book Club meeting—Little Women by Louisa May Alcott.
  • A dear friend took me out and bought me a chai tea latte. Thanks Beth!
  • Beth also gave me a bag of yarn odds and ends for charity knitting. Thank you!
  • My biggest money saver!  I signed up for a free trial of Scribd. It's a service where you can read or listen to books for just $8.99 a month with no limit.  My free trial will end in April. I already plan to keep the plan. My daughter and I are using it for school and for pleasure. We especially like the extensive list of audio books. Take a look. If you sign up from this link, you can get a two free months trial.  I've completed 5 books so far on audio.
That's my thrifty things lately.

Happy Homemaker Monday ~ March 25, 2019

As I write ...   Sunday night

The weather....  not too hot, not too cold

Right now I am...  waiting for my nails to dry before I go to bed. I put OPI Nail Envy strengthener on them. It's the only thing that's helped my post chemo nails grow. I'm also wondering what happened to March and why I haven't blogged!

Thinking...  I'd rather be knitting!

A quote to share...

"It has been well said that no man sank under the burden of the day. It is when to-morrow's burden is added to the burden of to-day that the weight is more than a man can bear."

On my reading pile...
  • War, Peace, and All That Jazz:  1018-1945 (A History of US #9)
  • Bible Faith Study Course
  • Candle in the Darkness
  • 30 Days to Understanding the Bible
  • Dead Sea Rising
Favorite blog post last week...
Something fun to share...

On the menu for this week...  Not really sure yet, but this is what I'm thinking.
  • Monday ~ Salad
  • Tuesday ~ Everyone goes their own way
  • Wednesday ~ Soup of some kind
  • Thursday ~ Tacos
  • Friday ~ Still thinking about it
On my to do list...
  • Update records
  • Ironing
  • Put away winter dishes
In the workbasket...
  • Reyna Shawl
  • Alaska Hat
  • Helix Hat
Looking forward to this week... SPRING!
  • Tuesday - Knitting Group and Book Club
  • Wednesday - Church
  • Thursday - Chai Tea Latte with a friend
  • Friday -  Time with my husband
  • Saturday -  Preparing for Sunday
  • Sunday - Church and family dinner
Looking around the house...

I've been rearranging furniture. I keep trying to find an arrangement I like in the living room. My daughter, Amy, bought some plants for her container garden.

From the camera...

Spring isn't quite here yet.
This is from 2014.

Devotional...
On my prayer list...
  • Peace of Jerusalem and Israel
  • Wisdom, health, and protection for President Trump, Vice-President Pence, and their families.
  • Healing for our country so that we may be ONE nation under God.
  • Joint and bone pain to stop. It's a side effect from the medicine that is supposed to keep cancer from coming back.
My prayer for you, my reader...

Jesus, I thank you that you hear our prayers. Father, I thank you for sending Jesus. Holy Spirit, I thank you for being our comforter and our teacher. Lord God, three in one, I thank you that you personally know each one of my readers. You know each one's needs, fears, hopes, problems, pains, and illnesses. I ask you God to speak directly to each one, to meet each person's needs, and heal each physical problem. Bless each spiritually, physically, socially, and financially. I ask it all by the power of the Blood of Jesus, in Jesus' Name. Amen.

Thanks for dropping by. Please say hello.

Thrifty Things Lately at Harvest Lane Cottage!

Hey Y'all,
It's been a fun week for me. I've spent some time with family and friends, enjoyed worship at church, read, and knit a bit. I got to go on an overnight business trip with my husband. I got in a little extra knitting and napping while he worked. Can't complain about that! I'm easy to take along since I wait patiently. ~smile~

Here's how my family has been thrifty lately.

~ I did not buy yarn at the fiber guild's trunk show, because I had just bought yarn for the Alaska hat the previous week.

~ I did not go into the tiny yarn shop we found outside Kirbyville. I knew I would feel obligated to buy something since it was such a small shop. But next time we go that way maybe I will stop.

~ A friend bought us lunch while Lowell and I were in Branson.

~ We received a discount on our hotel room.

~ Free shipping on the ChiaoGoo needles I ordered from Amazon with credit I earned filling out surveys.

~ I didn't order pizza when I wanted to.

~ I used a coupon and bought queso at Moes for less than $2 on knit night.

~ $2 cheeseburger 🍔 on half price burger night at Sonic yum!

~ We sorted books and did a little real estate investing by giving a lot away.

This was the couch I bought for $100 with Christmas money.
You know who you are. Thank you!
That's my thrifty week.

What are you doing in your home this week?
