Flattened!

Michael, 13, took out a stone mailbox on his bike tonight.  Knocked it down like a tornado.  Flattened Michael, too.  Amy got help for him.  A man driving by called us.  911, sheriff, ambulance etc.

Lowell was headed to Mt. Vernon, but he turned around and drove like crazy to get to Michael.  They refused the ambulance but drove to the hospital for x-rays and a CT scan.

(We watched a program about Tigers earlier today that showed a tiger getting a CT scan. I'm a home school mom, but this is taking field trips and hands-on learning way too far!)

PRAISE GOD! No broken bones, no internal injuries.  Just some cuts, scrapes, bruises, and sore muscles.

SCORE:   MAILBOX  0    MICHAEL  1

Update:  Michael is still quite sore.  He's taking meds to help with the pain and inflammation.   It turns out that the mailbox wasn't flattened, just destroyed.  A couple of feet of the base are still standing.

Update 8/14:  Michael is still a bit sore, but he's doing much much better.  Thank you for your prayers!

  1. Oh my! Nobody deserves an accident like that. Hope your son won't be too sore tomorrow. He'll want some TLC from you all. How's the bike, by the way? Linda

  2. Oh my! Praise God, Michael's okay! Tell him I hope he gets to feeling better soon, and next time to choose something not quite so HARD to tackle. :)

  3. Hi Miss Sarah,
I told him. I hope he listens!

He's pretty sore, but he's going to be alright.

    God was protecting him.
It was good to know that God sent help even though I couldn't get there to help.

Blessings to you and yours from our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ,

    Laura

  4. Hi Linda,

I think he will be sore. It was a new bike. It looks like the handle bars and seat are messed up, but I think they'll be able to fix them. He was going way too fast down a hill with a curve at the bottom. Tell a thirteen year old boy or any male that he's going too fast!

I think we'll spoil him a bit tomorrow. Thanks so much for your concern and prayers.

    Blessings,

    Laura

  6. Wendi,
Oh, I was praying. God is good. As it turns out, the mailbox wasn't competely flattened. There are still a couple of feet of the base standing.
