Laura Lately ~ December 11, 2018

I haven't had much time to write lately. I feel like I'm running hither and yon and meeting myself on the return trip.  I hope that next week things will begin to slow down a bit. I don't know why everyone thinks everything needs to be done the first week or two of December!

Laura Lately...

I am regaining energy steadily after treatments and surgery.

I've been taking my little dog for walks downtown. I'm trying to teach her not to pull and to be friendlier. She isn't very well socialized, because I worked and drove a lot when she was a pup.

I've been knitting a lot.
I've knit more little hats for a children's clothing ministry.
I finished a sweater for my dog.
I've finished one gift and another will probably be finished by Wednesday.
I'm learning fair isle knitting and knitting with double pointed needles.
I'm thinking about joining the Yarn Along at Small Things to encourage myself to take photos of what I'm knitting and reading.

I've been reading Christmas stories and studying Bible Faith by Kenneth Hagin.

We've done a bit of decorating including putting up the tree.

Lots of:
Christmas music on Pandora, YouTube, and Spotify.
Christmas movies on DVD, VHS, and Amazon Prime.
Driving my daughter to play practice, dance, work, and singing performances.
Dishes and laundry.
Writing Christmas cards for the church.
Soups
Prayer

Thanksgiving night we hit a deer and totaled our van. We bought a new-to-us car this weekend. Glad that's over!

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥
Please pray for my friend Deborah. She is supposed to get married at the end of the month. She was admitted to the hospital, and they did a heart cath Monday. As of Monday night, she didn't know any details yet, but she was feeling badly.
♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

Now I need to start making Christmas for my family.

Happy Christmas!
Be blessed,

  1. Good morning Laura,
So glad you are feeling better!! I am so sorry about your friend and your wreck! Glad no one was hurt!
I need to finish up this week because my family will all be here next weekend! Ten of us! I have made 2 lasagnas, a huge pot of soup, and one batch of cookies for the freezer. I like to spend time with my family when they are here and not be stuck in the kitchen the whole time (though I like to feed them).
I would love to see more pics of what you are knitting!
Have a very blessed Christmas dear one.

  3. Your tree is beautiful.
Thankful you are able to get your walks in. I think those little leash vests help dogs not to pull better than a regular leash. But it seems like a lot of dogs will not stop pulling hard., no matter what. My sons never have. It has been several years! There are probably dog manner videos on you tube. It might be worth a look.
So sorry to hear about the deer, but I am glad you could get another vehicle.
Hopes and prayers for your friend!
Still praying for you, I hope you have a wonderful holiday.
Thank you for prayers for me, they are still needed.
    Blessings!

  5. Laura, I was just commenting to my husband last night that I want to finish the shopping and enjoy the rest of the season. Lots of Christmas music and shows here too.

  6. Apologies for not keeping in touch...school has me hopping (finals/papers due this week). I haven't sent out one card yet, just been so busy...and don't think I am whining (ok, a little).

Merry Christmas to you and yours, smiles.

  11. I am glad to hear that you are doing so much better now. I hope no one was injured in your encounter with the deer! Friends of ours here had their carport collapse under the weight of the snow over the weekend and both cars were flattened. It is hard to imagine! Praying for Deborah.

  15. Sweet friend, what a blessing to hear you are regaining your energy. And I know what you mean about being busy this time of year. We have 2 Christmas programs coming up, Christmas parties, and Christmas dinners in the next week and a half. I am looking forward to the 21st because that's when it will slow down {{smiles}}

Have a blessed Christmas, dear one! Hugs to you!
