Happy Homemaker Monday ~ June 26, 2017

As I write ... Sunday Night

The weather....  The air is fresh and clean, the sky is overcast, and the fire was so inviting earlier this evening when my husband invited me for an impromptu dinner by the fire on the patio.

Right now I am... relaxing just a bit before bedtime.

Thinking... I'm beginning to feel better. Just how much can I get done this week without wearing myself out?

A quote to share...
♥♥♥♥♥

"You see, darlin', the roots on a willow tree run deep, clear under the ground to the source of water. That's what keeps it alive even when everything around it is drying out. Faith works the same way. It runs way down deep through our souls to the source—to God—and keeps us going when things get hard."

On my reading pile...
  • Believing Prayer
    by Andrew Murray
I am reading this in my Kindle.

  • The Enchanted Barn
    by Grace Livingston Hill
    Also in my Kindle

Favorite blog post last week... Steady by Rebecca of Rebecca's Hearth and Home. I have the rare privilege of being friends with Rebecca in person as well as on-line. She's returning to blogging after taking a break. Welcome back Rebecca!

Something fun to share...
A Fun Family Tradition...A Little Early for Us ~ This is one of my older posts that I really like.

Blog hopping...

On the menu for this week.... I'm not currently responsible for meals. That's one of the things the family has taken over for me. Since nothing is on the menu for this week yet, and I know we have salmon, I'm making an executive decision. ~smile~
  • Monday night... Salmon patties and veggies
  • Tuesday night... To be announced
  • Wednesday lunch... To be announced
  • Thursday night... To be announced
  • Friday night...   Date night
  • Saturday night... Ham and Swiss Sliders... Lowell promised!

On my to do list...
  • Pay medical bills
  • Finish school records
  • Buy yarn to knit a new hat. I will crochet flowers to adorn it. I might use this pattern or this one.

In the workbasket... I don't have anything in the works yet, but I'll start the hat if I get to Hobby Lobby to buy yarn. I have a gift card from my birthday last year. Here are pictures of the two flower styles. Which do you think would look better on a hat?

Looking forward to this week... Feeling like myself after a couple weeks of feeling chemo sick. I thank the Good Lord that it was better this time than the first, but I'm really looking forward to a better week.

Looking around the house... It's messier than I like. BUT, I've got to use my strength wisely and delegate, delegate, delegate!

From the camera...
I found this photo of my daughter Emily and me back when I had hair!
Devotional...

On my prayer list...
  • Peace of Jerusalem and Israel
  • Kristen, Cheryl's niece who will be delivering her baby soon and has a blood clot in her lungs, trouble breathing, and heart trouble. It is very important that they change her medications at the right time before her C-section on July 5th. See updates on Cheryl Smith's blog
  • Cancer will die the death in my body. My heart, brain, organs, and healthy cells will be protected. I will live and not die and declare the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living. Psalm 118:17
Father God, I pray that each reader will hear Holy Spirit speaking to her or him today. Help each find peace by trusting in you, your son Jesus the Christ, and the Holy Spirit. I pray that you will bring them and their unsaved loved ones to salvation in Jesus. I ask in Jesus' Name. Amen.

Thanks for dropping by!
Please say hello.
Laura

  1. Thanks for sharing my link, Laura! I am blessed to call you friend. You have my continual love, support, and prayers for healing and, as for the flowers on your hat, always go with the one with a button! LOL! Love you, Girl! Blessings! <3

  2. Hello Laura, I enjoyed visiting with you today. I loved that quote, I'm putting it in my journal. I always remember to pray for the peace of Jerusalem as God told us to do. Sorry you're fighting this health battle, May the Lord bless you, keep you and touch you with His healing hand. Gong to go over to visit with Rebecca, I don't think I've visited with her before.

  5. I'm glad to see you back! I also just noticed that you posted on Sat. I hope you're feeling a bit better!

That patio dinner looks wonderful! Does Lowell wanna come make our dinner tonight?! I can't decide what to make and I didn't sit down and make this week's plan on Sat. like I usually do....shame on me.... ;)

I vote for the round flower for a hat. I think you should pin it right over your forehead! I saw a woman with one like that today and I thought she looked great! I have one of those Gilligan-style hats that I want to add a flower to. I wear it in the river run to keep my ears from burning. I decided it needs a flower, but it needs to be waterproof. So, I decided that I'm going to make one from white plastic store bags. I'll do a Dollar General bag (yellow) in the middle! I hope it works and I don't end up having to collect flower bits from the river pool!!

We had a wonderfully cool weekend and today. What a pleasant break from the heat we had last week. We slept with the windows open last night and my feet actually got cold!

    Some fun little info:
Reading- Shattered Secrets by Karen Harper (mystery)
    Studying- Genesis
Embroidering- Quilt squares for a church raffle quilt (I think I'm on square # 12 of 18) and 2 flour sack dish towels for a gift for my old college roomie.
Enjoying on TV- Mayberry RFD (old show from the early 70's, I think) and Grandchester on PBS.
Wearing- Bright blue nail & toe polish. I'm planning to put red & white polka dots on them before the weekend to celebrate America!

Still praying, Laura. Have a good day!

    1. Lowell says he's game if you've got a big enough checkbook! Tee hee! Joking!
He actually had a restaurant for awhile and made some really terrific sandwiches that made these look quite humble. I found some yarn for the hat today. I started it this evening. You'll have to let me know how your flower comes out. It sounds like a great idea. I think acrylic yarn would probably dry just fine, too. It's been cool here, too. I needed a shawl when we went out for our shakes.

You've got some great stuff going on right now. Love the polish!
Thanks for praying and being my blog friend!

  9. I was without internet for 2 days when some idiot pulling in the new AT&T line cut the ENTIRE neighborhood off from ALL service. It will take me a while to catch up with everyone.

I LOVE your impromptu dinner by the fire - so sweet of your hubby. Wise use of your energy - glad to hear chemo was better this time. Prayers for your continued health.

    Have a wonderful week.

I read all comments and appreciate them.
Please make sure I have your email if you want me to respond or pray for you.

God bless you! This life only works with Jesus. The next life is a continuation of this one—make sure you spend it with Jesus. Jesus is the only way to God the Father!
